How to get from narita airport to hokkaido by car

It is possible, but not recommended, to drive from Narita Airport to Hokkaido. The distance from Narita Airport to Hokkaido is approximately 1,110 km. If you drive, it will take more than 15 hours even without a break. Driving for long hours on unfamiliar Japanese roads is dangerous, so another mode of transportation is recommended.

The fastest route also requires the use of a ferry. Car rental procedures and other hassles are often involved.

What you need to drive in Japan

To drive in Japan, you will need either a Japanese driver’s license, an international driver’s license, or a driver’s license from a country or region that has a licensing system recognized as being of a level equivalent to that of foreign countries for driving automobiles and other vehicles.
